Charity
NCB Group has been involved with a number of local charities over the last 6 years. Our main charitable event is our annual NCB Homes Charity Golf Tournament, which takes place in November/December; our goal each year is to raise CI$15,000 which is split between 3 local charities. These charities vary each year dependant on the initiatives being targeting and the financial needs surrounding them. Over the past 6 years we have donated to The Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, No Strings, NCVO, The Young Caymanian Community Awareness Society (which helped re build the Eastern Avenue park), CINRF Hospice and CICC and most recently NCB Group to Savannah primary school and Big brothers Big Sisters.
NCB Group has also participated in helping kids attend the National Trust Summer Camp. The week long camp has a “discovery” program for kids aged 6 to 11 and helps the children learn about local traditions, traditional homes and architecture, insects, nature and species unique to the Cayman Islands. Summer is about being off school and having fun for many kids, but unfortunately this doesn’t apply to all. We at NCB have recognized this and, with the efforts of the National Trust and Big Brothers Big Sisters, felt privileged to assist with this great opportunity.
NCB has also participated in the “work experience for school leavers program” with John Gray High School. We took 2 students in 2009 and 2010 for a week both times and showed them everything from preparing bid documents, making purchase orders, the process of compiling bids and managing budgets and jobs. We also had then spend time on our different job sites which gave them hands on experience for steel work, laying of block, pouring concrete and framing.
In addition NCB Group has also signed on to be the annual title sponsor for the Cayman Amateur Golf Championships. This three year commitment commenced in May 2008. This event will have a huge bearing on local golf as well as promoting golf here in the Cayman Islands as a desired travel destination. The men’s and ladies champions qualify each year to represent Cayman at the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships. NCB is very proud to be a supporter of this prestigious annual event and the development of golf generally in the Cayman Islands.

NCB Homes recently donated $4,000 to assist the Family Resource Centre with its programming in an effort to support the community that supports the company.
A new agency under the Department of Counseling Services, the Family Resource Centre is a combination of the former Women’s Resource Centre, the Young Parents Programme and the National Parenting Programme.
“The funds will go a long way in assisting the department to carry out its programmes, which are critical to the community,” said Programme Facilitator Mrs. Miriam Foster.
Mr. Matthew Wight, managing director of NCB Homes, said that the Family Resource Centre’s functions are in line with his company’s community focus and its motto, “Building Communities of Distinction.”
“Making this presentation to FRC is contributing to the people who are our client demographic,” said Mr. Wight. “It feels right to contribute to this agency because the individuals you help in the community are low-income families, some of whom are the victims of domestic violence, or teen parents, adults and youth in crisis.”
